Covent Garden

Covent Garden

I spent my birthday sketching in Covent Garden. I had lunch in Chinatown, Portuguese custard tarts (the best outside Portugal!) and coffee in Soho, and browsed art material in L.Cornelissen and Son. Very much my kind of birthday. It was a beautiful but cold day. I sat in the piazza outside Apple Market and sketched the giant baubles and mistletoe until I couldn’t feel my fingers and toes.

Hari and I went to Cambridge to see a comedy show last Friday. We stayed overnight and went out for a lovely breakfast on Saturday morning. It started out as a sunny but chilly morning, but that didn’t last very long. By the time we left the cafe, it was raining – storm Arwen was approaching Cambridge! Kyoto Garden

London urban sketchers met up in the Design Muesum on Kensington High Street in November. I decided to brave the gloomy weather and sketch out doors in the nearby Holland Park. Kyoto Garden, opened in 1991, was a gift from the city of Kyoto to celebrate the long standing friendship between Japan and Great Britain.
