This classic circus tent pitched up in a local field was too lovely not to sketch. It took me a couple of weeks to pluck up the courage to go and sketch it. As I walked around to find a good view, I got a few weird looks from the guys at the ticket booth and one came out and asked me if he could help in anyway. When I explained that I meant no harm and just wanted to sketch the lovely tent and the trailers, he seemed happy enough to leave me alone. Couldn’t blame them, I did stick out like a sore thumb in the middle of the field, as the show had already started and no one was outside apart from me – just a strange woman walking around very slowly with a big rucksack! It was all fine in the end, a few of the staff members even came out to check out my sketch.
