I met up with a sketching buddy today, Zane (@zanekarklina). I’ve been looking forward to venturing out after the ‘stay at home’ restriction lifted in England. We spent Good Friday at Royal Botanic Gardens Kew sketching the Japanese landscape. It’s a beautiful space combining 3 different gardens – Garden of peace, Garden of Activity and Garden of Harmony – surrounding the Chokushi-Mon (Gateway of the Imperial Messenger). The resident peacock was out sunbathing (and posing for the tourists) in the Garden of Harmony among its neatly clipped hedges of Rhododendron and rock outcrops.

We sketched, chatted and celebrated Zane’s birthday with a picnic.  The chilly day was deceptively sunny but it was nice to be out doing what we love.
